CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – On Thursday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m., Clarksville Police Department’s Clergy Rapid Mobilization Team (CRMT) will be meeting at the New Providence Community Policing Center (NPCPC) for a community outreach mission.
After they meet at the NPCPC, they will disperse out into the community with the objectives of maintaining a good relationship between the CPD and the citizens we serve, and to let individuals know how we can help them.
“We want people to know that the NPCPC is a community center that welcomes everyone, especially those in need. We want to know how we can help the Clarksville community,” said CPD’s Chaplain Modesto Martinez.
Our Chaplains play an important role for the CPD in bridging the gap with the community to create a cohesive partnership. That is an objective that the entire department works for and supports.
What is the CRMT?
The CPD’s Chaplain Coordinator Rev Modesto Martinez developed a plan to work with area ministers. The ministers represent many denominations, ethnicities, races, and cultures. The CRMT has two main objectives. The first objective is to reach out to the entire community in different ways—bridging the gap with the community to create a cohesive partnership. The second objective is to train ministers to be fully prepared to deploy immediately when a crisis occurs—natural disaster, community emergency or civil disturbance. The ministers go through a five-day training session to prepare for these missions.
