CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Clarksville woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the death of her 8-month-old daughter, who drowned in a bathtub after being left alone.

Judge John Gasaway sentenced Nicole Pamblanco to the minimum time allowed under state law for her convictions on charges of criminally negligent homicide and aggravated child neglect.

Prosecutors say she left her daughter, Abigail, unattended in a bathtub with the water running. The child died on Aug. 22, 2013.

Defense attorney Mike Flanagan has said Pamblanco did not intentionally leave the child to die.

Gasaway set a Sept. 15 hearing on a defense motion for a new trial.
