The gymnasium at Salem United Methodist Church was filled Saturday, August 22 with people enjoying homemade ice cream and helping to raise over $5,000 to support the F.U.E.L. program. It was the fifth year for the “I scream for F.U.E.L. Ice Cream Freeze-Off” with around 40 different homemade creations of ice cream from people in the surrounding communities.
F.U.E.L. helps provide food for young children over the weekend who rely on school breakfast and lunch through the week as their main meals each day. The donations will be used by local church organizations to help children in Montgomery Central Elementary, Cumberland Heights Elementary and Montgomery Central Middle Schools with over 250 kids getting help last year.
