CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Farmer Veteran Workshop is coming up for veterans and active duty military interested in agriculture as a post military career. The workshop is set for Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the UT/TSU Extension Office at 1030 Cumberland Heights Road.

A number of speakers from agriculture will talk about the many types of programs available for farmers. Vendors from the agriculture industry will have booths set up and current farmer veterans are encouraged to set up a display to advertise their farm and products.

Charley Jordan is the organizer of the Farmer Veteran Workshop. Jordan is an active duty soldier at Fort Campbell, who has served over 27 years in the Army and also owns and operates the Circle J Ranch in Woodlawn, Tennessee.

”Not only does a farmer veteran have a product to sell or service to provide, they also have a story. A story of dedication to
this great country and its great people and many of them want to continue that service to their country by becoming a farmer and feeding them,” said Jordan.

Some of the organizations attending the workshop include the USDA/FSA, National Resource Conservation Service, UT Center for Profitable Agriculture, TSU New Farmer’s Academy, AgraAbility, Farm Credit and Pick Tennessee Products.
