CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A victim told police she was raped Friday, July 5 by a man who picked her up while she was walking down the road.

According to a report from the Clarksville Police Department, the woman was walking on Commerce St. near Brooks Alley when a white male with brown hair, possibly in his forties, driving a gray two-door truck stopped to offer her a ride.

The victim got in the vehicle, but exited on Tenth St. and attempted to run from the man, which led to a struggle in the field across from a convenience store. She told police the man ripped out her hair and a fingernail. The man threatened to kill her, so she got back in the truck and she said he sexually assaulted her.

Afterward, she called police and was transported to Gateway Medical Center to receive a sexual assault kit. No further information about the suspect is available at this time.
