CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A powerful cold front will be on approach today and will move across Middle Tennessee tonight.
Much warmer temperatures are expected throughout the day Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated, with some thunderstorms becoming strong to severe this evening, with the main threat being damaging winds.
A Tornado Watch has been issued for Montgomery County and surrounding areas through 9 p.m. Saturday.
Saturday’s high is 69 degrees with temperatures plunging into the 20s at night.
Tonight, after the arctic cold front sweeps across Middle Tennessee, much colder air will return to the area. As this occurs, rain may changeover to a wintry mix of light freezing rain or light sleet after midnight tonight with the wintry precipitation potential continuing into Sunday morning.
A brief changeover to light snow may occur before the precipitation ends.
Only minor accumulations of sleet and snow are expected. One-tenth of an inch of ice is possible.
Sunday’s high will be about 29 degrees.
