CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville police say a sinkhole opened up on Warfield Boulevard Monday, May 25 near the River Club Golf and Learning Center.

Police were notified around 11 a.m. and a short time later a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) crew arrived to make temporary repairs to the area.

The sinkhole measures around four feet across and about three feet deep and there are currently orange cones marking the damaged section on the right side of the roadway. It is in the northbound lane near Rivermont Drive between Memorial Drive and Dunbar Cave Road.

Lieutenant Steve Warren with the Clarksville Police Department said TDOT workers are scheduled to be back Tuesday morning to make permanent repairs to the site. Drivers can expect at least one lane of Warfield Boulevard, State Route 374, to be closed around the sinkhole.
