CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning shooting between two men driving on Highway 48-13.
Ellis Clippinger, 22, told deputies he was driving south on Highway 48-13 at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when a car pulled up behind him and tapped his vehicle, causing it to stall. He told deputies that when he pulled over to the side of the road, he was shot at and returned fire, hitting the other person.
Deputies have identified the man in the other car as Brian Matthew Caudle, 49, of Cunningham who drove off, then pulled over a short time later and fell out of the car. Emergency crews that responded took him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A stretch of Hwy 48-13 was closed for a time, but was re-opened by 8 am.
Clippinger refused medical treatment.
Sheriff’s spokesman Jamie Dexter told Clarksvillenow.com that charges are expected.
This is a developing story.
