CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – At this time of the year, drivers in Clarksville and driving along Interstate 24 are encouraged to pay extra attention to deer darting across the roadway.
According to Clarksville police statistics, there have been 21 vehicle crashes involving deer in the CPD’s jurisdiction between Nov. 11 and Nov. 17.
“The photo I provided is a crash on the eastbound side of I-24 at exit 4. The photo shows bumper impact on the front driver’s side of the vehicle and the legs of the deer kicked in her window. Then the deer ran off. The driver of the vehicle had amazing defensive driving skills and kept calm, traveling a safe distance until she could pull over safely and call 911. She gave me permission to post this picture to warn others,” Officer Amberlece Berman said.
Please be safe on the roadway and be alert for deer or any other distractions. Also, be aware of other drivers and how they react to deer or other distractions.
