HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – (WKRN) – Two teenagers were killed and two other teens seriously injured in a late night car crash in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Hopkinsville police said the crash happened around midnight Saturday, along Fort Campbell Boulevard near South Walnut Street.

Police told News 2 that it appears the driver may have been speeding at the time of the crash and lost control.

Friends say they had attended prom earlier that evening.

17-year-old Jacory Burse and 16-year-old Darius Majors died on the scene.

Dustin Berry, a friend of Jacory Burse, said he heard the news on Facebook Sunday.

“I talked to him two or three nights ago,” said Berry. “I can’t even believe it happened. It just hurts.”

Buddy Slaughter is pastor at Means Avenue Baptist Church. He also serves as Chaplain for the Hopkinsville Police Department, breaking tragic news to families who have lost loved ones.

Pastor Slaughter knows the family of Darius Majors.

“Prom night was just supposed to be a memorable time for kids,” Slaughter said. “And of course today being Mother’s Day makes it even more difficult for the families involved.”

Two other teenagers involved in the crash were flown to Nashville hospitals. Police reported they were in critical, but stable condition Sunday morning.

Christian County Schools released a statement regarding the two students lost in the accident.
