Pedestrian in wheelchair killed in traffic

A fatal crash team with the Clarksville Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in a wheelchair Wednesday night.

According to Police Sgt. Charles Gill, the crash occurred on New Providence Boulevard near Peachers Mill Road, in front of Elite Motors at 8:57 pm.

A 2003 Nissan Maxima, driven by Nathaniel Crespo, 25, was southbound when the crash occurred. Crespo struck Ellen Hapiuk, 47, whose wheelchair was in the road at the time.

The incident is still under investigation, and police say Crespo is cooperating with investigators. No further information is available at this time.
