A crash on Riverside Drive Thursday morning sent one victim to the hospital with burns.

According to Sgt Charles Gill with the Clarksville Police Department, John Ward was driving a Lincoln MKZ southbound on Riverside Dr. when he went into oncoming traffic, left the roadway and struck a gas pump at the Exxon Station at 715 S. Riverside Dr., causing it to explode.

Chris Porter, of Clarksville, was walking through the parking lot at the time and was able to avoid being struck by the vehicle but was burned when the tank exploded.

The victim was sent to the Vanderbilt Burn Unit. No updates on his condition are available at this time.

The crash is under investigation by the Clarksville Police Department.
