CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville’s EMS station 30 and Fire station 12 are officially open as of Dec. 12.
The Industrial Development Board, Clarksville and Montgomery County have been working on the plans for these new facilities since 2001. The stations are located off Exit 8 in corporate business park. The EMS facility is the first newly constructed in the county since 1978 when EMS station 20 was built.
Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett said, “This station on the EMS side is going to serve a tremendous need for use. This is our busiest zone with 22 percent of call volume in this area.”
The new Fire station is the first in the city since 1998. Fire station 12 will respond to eight square miles of the city limits. The station also has a fire rescue truck that will respond from exit 4 to exit 11.
Fire Chief Mike Roberts said, “Thanks to the mayor and city council for the funding of the construction and the hiring of 18 new firefighters to staff it. They also approved funding for a new 100 ft. ladder truck.”
