CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man who had recently been released from jail on bond following an aggravated robbery charge has now been charged with theft.
According to Clarksville police, 20-year-old John Banks was initially jailed in connection to a home invasion on Blakemore Dr. in which a man was shot. He was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and weapon possession.
On July 28, 2017, he was released on bond.
Banks is now back in jail after being charged with two counts of theft. Police said both thefts occurred after the victims used the LetGo app to advertise phones for sale. They met with Banks, who said he wanted to purchase the phones, but ran away with them after asking to inspect them each time.
The thefts occurred Aug. 2 and 4. Detective determined Banks was involved and secured warrants for his arrest. He turned himself in on Aug. 14.
Banks was charged with two counts of theft and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
