Man killed after vehicle hits train in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – 24-year-old man was killed Friday afternoon after his vehicle collided with a train in Hopkinsville, Ky.

According to a report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, Justin Johnson was travelling eastbound on Old Concord Lane when he failed to yield the right of way to the train at the railway intersection. The front end of his vehicle struck the train, and then overturned into a culvert.

Johnson was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries.

The conductor of the train told police Johnson made no attempt to slow down or stop. A witness said she went through the crossing just before the collision and the signals were working.

No one on the train was injured in the collision.

There is no further information at this time.
