Local law enforcement to step up patrols this weekend

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Christian County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Hopkinsville Police Department and Oak Grove Police Department will be conducting roadside safety checkpoints and saturation patrols June 28 and 29 in Montgomery County, TN and Christian County, KY.

The checkpoints will be on U.S. 41-A near the state line. Saturation patrols will be on U.S. 41-A, Tenn. State Routes 374 & 236, Ky. State Routes 400, 115 & 911.

Troopers, deputies, and officers will also step up DUI Saturations patrols. More than 16,000 people are killed every year in impaired driving crashes and more than 305,000 people are injured.

These departments will hold a press conference regarding the patrols Friday, June 28 at 10 a.m. at Piggly Wiggly, 3441 Ft. Campbell Blvd.

The enforcement efforts are partially funded by the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office.
