NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Uber, a driver service powered by a smartphone app, exists in major cities across the U.S. and globally and allows users to forego traditional taxi service by calling for a ride at the touch of a button.

The service already exists in metro Nashville and some of its surrounding areas.

Lately, social media has sparked rumors that Uber will soon expand to the Clarksville/Fort Campbell area. Some drivers have said they received information about the expansion.

Sources say the company is expanding to the Clarksville area beginning March 3.

ClarksvilleNow.com reached out to Uber for confirmation. A representative would not confirm or deny the claims, saying that “currently Uber is not operating specially in Clarksville.”

The Gilroy recently tweeted about a partnership with the company.
