CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Gateway Medical Center announced in a press release that the facility will furlough approximately 22 employees.

Benita Martin, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, said the decision was made “in response to a challenging operating environment and lower patient volumes.” The furloughed employees work in various departments and account for less than two percent of the hospital’s workforce.

No definitive timeline has been set for the change, but Martin said the hospital intends to preserve jobs for the long-term.
