CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood advisory for the Cumberland River at Clarksville.

The river has gone above action stage due to the recent moderate to heavy rainfall. With more moderate to heavy rainfall expected, it will remain elevated for several days.

As of Thursday morning, the Cumberland River had risen to 40.1 feet. Flood stage is 46 feet.

NWS says the river will continue to rise to near 43.6 feet by early Friday afternoon. At 45 feet, water would approach commercial and industrial properties on South Riverside Dr. near TN-48, North Riverside Dr. near Providence Blvd. East, Quarry Rd., Kraft St. near College St., and Zinc Plant Rd.

At 43 feet, water would inundate low lying areas along the river.

A Flood Watch is currently in effect for the Clarksville-Montgomery County area through Saturday night. Several episodes of rainfall are expected over the next several days, with heaviest rainfall and possible storms on Saturday night.

This rain will fall on grounds that have already been saturated from previous rains. Rainfall totals are expected to average between three and five inches.

Because of heavy rain and rising waters on the Cumberland River and its tributaries, these City of Clarksville parks and facilities will be closed until further notice:

• Liberty Park, including Freedom Point and the BCycle Station, but excluding the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
• Clarksville Marina.
• McGregor Park boat ramp and stages, including portions of the Riverwalk.
• Clarksville Greenway, southern portion extending from Pollard Road toward the water treatment plant.
• Trice Landing Park.
• Barbara Johnson Park.
• Coy Lacy Park.
• Dalewood Park.
