DOD announces Fort Campbell deployments

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Department of Defense announced Tuesday, September 24 that two units from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell will deploy as part of the upcoming rotation of forces operating in Afghanistan.

Around 3,000 soldiers with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team and about 1,800 personnel with the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade “Wings of Thunder” are schedule to deploy in winter of 2013-2014 in support of the combatant commander’s mission requirements.

Also scheduled to deploy is the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas, 10th Mountain Division Headquarters, Fort Drum, New York and Airborne Corps Headquarters, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
