CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Clarksville Police say a car hit a deer on Dover Rd. and the deer flew off the car and hit a pedestrian.

The incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday.

“This is not a type of crash that happens often,” Officer Natalie Hall said.

A crash report said a Pontiac Montana driven by a Woodlawn woman was traveling west when a deer entered a roadway and the vehicle struck the deer.

The deer went airborne and struck a 36-year-old man on the side of the road.

The pedestrian suffered some broken bones and was transported to Tennova Healthcare.

At this time of the year, drivers are encouraged to pay extra attention to deer darting across the roadway and be aware of other drivers and how they react to deer or other distractions.
