CEDAR HILL, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible homicide Tuesday night at a gas station off Interstate 24.
According to WKRN, it happened at the Phillips 66 on Maxey Road in Cedar Hill, just off exit 19.
The victim died of an apparent gunshot wound. He’s been identified as 42-year-old Jonathan Outlaw, of Clarksville. Outlaw was a former police officer at Tennessee State University.
According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, three suspects arranged to meet Outlaw at the gas station after contacting him about purchasing a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro he posted for sale on Craigslist.
During the meeting, authorities say Ricardo Murray Jr. and the two others attempted to steal Outlaw’s car, shooting him as they fled with the Camaro.
Detectives reportedly believe the Phillips 66 gas station only served as a meeting point as the victim is from Clarksville and the suspects from Nashville.
Murray now faces charges of criminal homicide, aggravated robbery, and theft of property over $10,000.
He and the two other accomplices are still wanted by the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office. Murray has also been added to TBI’s Most Wanted List.
Murray is described as a black male who stands 5’8” and weighs approximately 164 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about Murray’s whereabouts should contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. There is a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to Murray’s arrest.
