CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville-based 5 Star Radio group announces a new ‘80s pop radio station that is now launched as Rewind 94.3 FM.

“This is the music of the MTV generation,” said Program Director Scott Chase. “It was such a fun time in music and we’re recapturing that excitement.”

The core of Rewind 94.3 FM music will be the big hit-makers of the ‘80s, like Prince, Madonna, and Michael Jackson, but with a broader range. Chase said they have included songs from the late ‘70s and early ‘90s that fit the mix. “We feature all the big artists you would expect like Fleetwood Mac and Billy Idol, and we pepper in those great one-hit wonders like Tone Loc’s ‘Wild Thing’ and Nena’s ‘99 Luftballoons’,” he said.

Weekend programming will include syndicated ‘80s shows such as Backtrax USA with Kid Kelly and Retro Pop Reunion.

“We have conducted a lot of research and put all the best ideas on the table and in the end all our programming people agreed, there is a demand for Rewind 94.3 and we’re going to make it fun,” said General Manager Katie Gambill. “For anyone that remembers playing Pac Man or watching those first cheesy videos on MTV, they’ll love it.”

The following is a sample playlist for the new station:
• Michael Jackson – Rock with You (1979)
