KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Two school buses carrying children home from an intermediate and a primary school collided on a Tennessee highway, injuring more than 20 people and killing three others Tuesday afternoon.

WKRN News 2 reports that an incident report from the Knoxville Police Department reveals that the driver of the bus that crashed into the other had prescription drugs in his system.

James Davenport was identified by police as the driver of Bus No. 44. Police say that bus crossed over the median on Asheville Highway and struck Bus #57, causing it to flip.

Three people aboard that bus, Zykia Burns, 6, and Seraya Glasper, 7, both students at Sunnyview Primary School, along with a teacher’s aide Kimberly Riddle, 46, were killed.

Police have not released whether Davenport was in possession of a prescription for those drugs.
