Cakes For Christmas is a fundraiser for a local boy named Zachery (11) who has been diagnosed with a rare disease called Superficial Siderosis. One of the tragic side effects of his disease is hearing loss. We are raising funds to get Zachary hearing aids for Christmas. Please come out and support the cause….there will be more than just cakes to purchase and donations will be taken as well. Cheer For A Cure, an organization dedicated to raising cancer awareness and funding for cancer research, prevention, and treatment, announced the upcoming Cheer For A Cure Championship to be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Montgomery Central High School.
Cheer For A Cure, was established in 2005 and has since grown into a national, community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising spirits and funds in an effort to impact the lives of those who have been touched by cancer. This is the nation’s largest grassroots network of cheerleaders, coaches, and supporting fans; striving to prevent cancer, save lives, and increase quality of life by funding research, awareness, and service.
The event, a cheer and dance competition is scheduled for Saturday, December 14 at Montgomery Central High School located at 3955 Highway 48 Cunningham, TN. Registration for the event is now open and all cheer squads and dance teams, preschool age to adult, are invited to attend. The day’s events will also include 50/50 cash drawings, cheer apparel, and a variety of concessions.

The organization was established in honor of Stella Bertz, a most enthusiastic and giving person who was dedicated to the sport of cheerleading, coaching for over ten years. Stella succumbed to cancer in February 2003, and it is the hope of the organization to continue her spirit of giving.

Visitors to the event will be able to step back in time and see period decorations, visit with a nineteenth century Santa, and enjoy eggnog, cakes and caroling.

Also being featured is Northeast Middle, and the Alpha Xi steppers! The proceeds will go towards helping families enjoy Christmas from a wishlist, and food baskets. Come out and be entertained with live music and talent! This event is open to the community and all ages. There will be a $5.00 admission, and refreshments will be sold at the event.
